Fall Self-Care Ideas To Add To Your Self-Care Routine This Fall

I’ve talked about summer self-care before, and while I do believe that self-care is universal and should be in your daily routine all year long, I wanted to put together a blog post that is self-care tips for the fall season. Maybe it’s too cold or chilly or rainy to go on a long walk where you live, so I found these tips should be helpful in shifting your summer routines into your fall routines.

Declutter anything and everything.

When you enter a new season, it’s always helpful to declutter anything and everything. This can be digital or non-digital — aka your kitchen/fridge area, clothes, car, etc. This can also be your digital area, including your desktop, emails, photos, etc.

Take A Long Walk.

If it’s not too rainy or chilly where you live, then take a long walk in the chilly, crisp autumn air. A long walk is crucial self-care in any season, but something about stepping on a crunchy leaf is satisfying.

Re-read your favorite book.

Light a candle, make yourself a hot beverage (coffee, tea, apple cider), and re-read your favorite comfort book — bonus points if it’s fall-related or spooky! Some great re-reads are anything by Jane Austen, ACOTAR series, Harry Potter, or the Bridgerton series.

Binge-watch your comfort show.

Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are rising from the leaves and onto our Netflix screens. Even though Gilmore Girls is on all year round in my Netflix queue, I still love to watch this show in the fall. But whatever show it is, turn on a comfort show and reunite with your most memorable and favorite characters.

Sleep in!

Picture this: it’s a cozy Saturday morning, the air is crisp, it just rained the night before … and you get to sleep in. Get a good 7-8 hours of sleep and stay in bed for an extra hour. You deserve it.

Set up a new journal.

This doesn’t have to be crazy creative like what you see on #bulletjournal on Instagram or TikTok. You can literally just start writing in your new journal that you bought for yourself two years ago when you said you wanted to start journaling. New pages in your journal can look like monthly or yearly reading trackers, individual reviews, upcoming new releases, and your TBR.

Invest in a new wardrobe.

Fall clothes are my absolute favorite. Maybe your wardrobe needs a refresh. Start by cleaning out your closet and donate whatever you don’t wear anymore or need. Then, head to the thrift store or check out any fashion blog/website to see what the trends are. Invest in some basic wardrobe pieces that you can wear with almost anything. My favorite shops and brands are Old Navy, Target, and LOFT for some good staple pieces.

Bake your favorite fall treats.

I am waiting for the day that I can start baking cinnamon cookies or anything pumpkin flavored. One thing I hope to bake is apple cobbler or apple pie!

Try a new fall drink.

I’m a HUGE fan of the pumpkin cream cold brew. It became a staple order for me last fall. I’ve also started drinking pumpkin spice latte coffee creamer from Starbucks … and it’s not even September yet. However, I want to try new fall drinks this fall! Especially from Starbucks and Dunkin. I haven’t had a look yet but I’m excited to see what these major coffee brands come up with.

Try a new fitness routine.

Try and mix in some new fitness classes into your routine. Try Pilates, yoga, or that one class that you’ve always been intimidated to try.

Take vacation days.

Because you deserve it. You can take a day trip somewhere, find an Airbnb and stay overnight, or find a concert near you. Whatever it is, take those vacation days.

Find a nature hike.

This isn’t my favorite, but if you’re a nature gal, find a local nature hike and go with friends! This can definitely be a self-care activity that can bring peace … and fun!

Cook a fun vegetable fall meal.

Find a new recipe on Pinterest that’s fall-related! These can be assorted veggies that you cook on the skillet, a new frozen meal from Trader Joe’s, or something in the crockpot. Crockpot gals, unite.
