5 Exercises That Can Get You Back Into An Exercise Routine—Without The Gym

Hi, friends.

If you’re anything like me, you probably hate working out. Amirite? I’m trying to get back into an exercise routine. I have to admit this: I miss my gym. I miss my spin classes, Zumba classes, and the just the gym vibe.

So how do I still maintain a gym routine? I have to adapt, of course. It seems that everyone and their brother are going on Instagram live with their physical trainers encouraging and motivating people to follow their plans. Don’t let those intimidate you! (Tyler Cameron, looking at you.) You can try these easy, simple workouts and exercise routines—without ever paying for a gym membership.

Walking and running outside! // Obviously, take social distancing precautions. Wear your masks, gloves, and don’t touch anything. Stay six feet away from everybody. Walk/run on trails if necessary—stay away from residential paths if at all possible. But hitting the pavement in the fresh air can be one of the best, most simple exercise routines.

YouTube workouts // I’ve been utilizing some online workout classes. Like I mentioned earlier, I do miss my Zumba and spin classes. Some of my favorite YouTube workouts are Popsugar Fitness and Yoga with Adrienne. Tbh, sometimes I just search whatever I want in the YouTube search bar and click on the easiest one!

Resistance bands // I haven’t ordered these yet, but I want to! I’ve seen YouTubers and influencers like Jeanine Amapola use these, and I’m wanting to try their workouts. Resistance bands are simple and easy to use, and workouts with resistance bands can be only 10-15 minutes.

Instagram Lives // I see influencers going on Instagram Live with their trainer—tbh, I have no idea why they’re doing that. But, Hannah Brown (aka the best Bachelorette ever) has been going live on Instagram with her trainer, Leyon, giving short workout sets. You can do it live right with them, or catch her highlights on her Instagram story.

Stretching for 5-10 minutes // I’m not a workout person; I’m more of a lounge-in-bed, binging Netflix type of person. I love walking outside. But stretching for 5-10 minutes first thing in the morning or last thing you do before bed can be the best thing for not only your mental health, but your physical health. Try MadFit on YouTube!
