I've Read Every Emily Henry Book—Here's My Ranking
Emily Henry is one of the queens of romance books. (How can I say the queen when Abby Jimenez’s Part of Your World series is staring at me?) I have read every single adult-aged Emily Henry book (not her young adult books). My favorite Emily Henry book may not be someone’s favorite (or even the popular favorite). That’s okay. Books are subjective. Art is subjective. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
5.) Happy Place
When I first finished Happy Place, I loved it. It was in my top three. But once the excitement wore off, and got to thinking, my heart was led towards the other EmHen books. The miscommunication didn’t even do it for me. I loved the friendships. I loved the setting. I think it was Harriet, the FMC (female main character). She went from being a med student to making pottery?! She seemed a tad annoying (I use that term very loosely) and all over the place. I couldn’t really follow along with her character development. I still love the book, and Harriet and Wyn, but I think it was her character that knocked off a point. But honestly—I still love her character!
4.) Book Lovers
This is a very popular EmHen read, and one that I do not take lightly by putting this at 4. To be fair, I read this on my Kindle when I wasn’t in my Kindle girl era. I didn’t like my Kindle, so maybe I was frustrated with the reading format less than the actual book. However, I just didn’t vibe with the book. I didn’t vibe with the story. I loved Charlie Lastra (Theo James better be playing him in the movie), and I loved the sister dynamic. The small town setting was amazing—especially at Charlie’s family bookstore in the small town and Nora offers to help. Nora was a fantastic character and a badass one at that. I think I just don’t recall much of the story to put it higher in my ranking.
3.) Funny Story
A newer read, so this may change in six months, but I think it’s safe to put at 3. I loooooved Daphne and Miles. I liked the whole “funny story” of how they not only came to be friends but lovers. The fake dating. The roommates to lovers. The banter. The friendship—that’s another thing! Not only did I love the chemistry they shared, but the friendship! They were good friends and treated each other right, especially after their break-ups. The fake dating wasn’t as prevalent. The whole fake dating scheme to make their exes (who are getting married to each other, LOL) wasn’t a major plot point, but rather one point to move it along. You can read my full review here!
2.) Beach Read
My two writers <3 Gus and January will always have my heart. This was my first EmHen read and it will always have a special place in my heart. The rivals to lovers banter, the writer’s block, the small town setting—it all came together so wonderfully.
1.) People We Meet On Vacation
This may not be everyone’s favorite, but it is mine. And I love that for me. Ever since Emily Henry came out with that Taylor Swift song association with each of her books and FMCs, and put You’re On Your Own, Kid with Poppy and People We Meet On Vacation, I knew this book was my #1. I also love Poppy’s character development the best. I was crying, I was laughing, my heart was giddy while reading this book.
