8 Romance Authors Who I Will Read Anything From

I can’t say always.

But these are some authors—mainly romance authors—who I will always buy from. When I look at my bookshelf, I own several books by these authors — and more on my Kindle and audiobook library. If they announced a new book coming soon, I immediately pre-order it.

Jasmine Guillory

When I picked up my first Jasmine Guillory book, The Proposal, I was hooked. I love her writing. She writes contemporary romances with just the right amount of spice that it doesn’t dominate the book. She writes mature and complex romances, with characters who carry a lot of emotional depth. One of my favorite things about her books is that she includes side characters into the main plot — they are vital to the main characters’ developments (and often bridge into the next book in the series). I would buy any book from Jasmine Guillory, hands-down, no matter what.

Sarah Adams

I am reading through her backlist right now, but I adore Sarah Adams’s writing. She writes amazing and adorable love stories. I love the Rome, Kentucky series the best—Practice Makes Perfect was actually my favorite book of 2023. I am trying to read her Charleston and Nashville series. I read The Off-Limits Rule, and thought it was very cute!

Emily Henry

Bookstagram’s favorite romance author! Emily Henry is one of the romance authors of our generation. She’s like Nora Ephron, Taylor Swift, and Shonda Rhimes. She writes beautiful, realistic, and complicated love stories and messy characters in those love stories. And somehow, the love stories are just that good and sweet and charming. If you haven’t read an Emily Henry book, what are you doing?

Kristina Forest

I read The Neighbor Favor in 2023, and loved it. Same with the next book in the interconnected stand-alone series that follows the Green sisters: The Partner Plot. I’m itching to get my hands on the next book, The Love Lyric! If you like Sarah Adams, then you’ll love Kristina Forest! Like Sarah Adams, Kristina Forest writes cute and romantic love stories. Her books are like a good Netflix rom-com. Think Jenny Han, but more adult. Her characters (in this series) are in their mid-20s and just figuring out life — like we all are. I would definitely buy anything she writes.

Katharine McGee

I adored the American Royals series. (If America was a monarchy? Absolutely hooked.) Because of that, I would buy anything Katharine McGee writes. She wrote another book series before American Royals that’s vastly different (A Thousandth Floor — it’s sort of like Gossip Girl), and it’s on my TBR. I hope that Katharine McGee sticks with royals—or not, because I trust her writing.

Emma Lord

I read Tweet Cute in March 2020 and never looked back. In fact, I made the infamous Monster Cake that she put in that book! That book was a You’ve Got Mail retelling and if you’ve read the blog before, you know that is my favorite movie of all time. Emma’s writing is so easily digestible and fun and light-hearted with deeper themes mixed in. Her first few books are young adult, but recently, she dove into more adult books (new adult, I think), so I’m excited to pick up those.

Christina Lauren

Christina Lauren books are always a hit or miss for me, but their most recent book, The Paradise Problem, was definitely a hit and possibly one of my favorite books of 2024. Their writing is so fun and charming and light-hearted. They write according to popular romance tropes and do it well. I loved The Unhoneymooners and Dating You/Hating You, and a lot of bookstagrammers loved Love & Other Words. I think it’s safe to say that I’d buy the next book that Christina Lauren puts out.

Tessa Bailey

With Tessa Bailey, I always know what I’m going to get: a fun, steamy, romantic book with silly characters. My first book by her was Fix Her Up and I was floored. It was my first spicy book! I pushed through and read more of her books — and I’m so glad! Her books are fun, light-hearted, and steamy with great characters.
