What to Watch on TV This Week: Netflix Edition
Back at it with the TV guide, y’all.
Instead of doing a weekly set-up, I thought I’d mix it up this time around! In my nightly scroll of my Netflix queue, I found that Netflix added a bunch of new shows and movies this week. And just in time for Valentine’s Day, if you’re single as a pringle like me (lol), then some of these movies are a must-watch on this holiday.
The Notebook
When I saw this added on Netflix, I almost freaked out. I haven’t seen this movie in a hot minute, and I’m very excited to sit down and watch it. It’s a timeless classic and I think everyone—including you and your boo OR you alone—will appreciate it.
2. Dear John
Another Nicholas Sparks classic, Dear John is an underrated classic. I mean, it has Channing Tatum in it, so why wouldn’t you watch it?? An amazing movie, go watch it.
3. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
With the second movie in this trilogy coming out this week, why not go back and watch the first one? You know your 23-year-old self loved it…it’s a cute film that you can curl up on the couch and watch on a Friday night.
4. National Treasure (1 & 2)
Both of these Nicholas Cage Oscar-worthy movies are on Netflix, and I highly, highly recommend you go watch them. I’ve seen these so much that I can quote them line by line.
5. Sex and the City 2
Sadly, the first movie of this timeless classic is not on Netflix. If you have Amazon Prime, it’s on Prime Video. But the second Sex and the City is on Netflix now! I highly, highly recommend that you watch it. It’s a perfect girls movie so gather your gal pals and share a cheese board.
6. How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days
Another timeless rom-com, it also has Matthew McConaughey. And Kate Hudson, too! Their witty banter and on-screen chemistry will put you in the Valentine’s mood.
7. Hitch
I love Kevin James in this movie. I mean, I love Kevin James in any movie, honestly. He’s one of my favorite actors to watch, ever since King of Queens days (major #tbt). This is a low-key rom-com and when I first turned it on so many years ago, I did not expect!
8. Back to the Future Part III
This was one of my favorite movies growing up. It’s not even the best movies, I guess. But it’s good to me! Marty McFly was my homeboy.
9. Miss Americana: Taylor Swift’s Documentary
Stop what you’re doing and GO WATCH THIS. Even if you don’t love Taylor Swift (why?), she opens up about the media industry, recording an album all on her own, getting involved in politics with a major influence, and her insecurities like an eating disorder. It’s so raw, open, and real—I don’t normally watch documentaries, I personally think they are boring, but I was hooked on her every word. I didn’t even watch her Reputation documentary—I watched this one though and I. am. obsessed.
10. A Cinderella Story
A Hilary Duff classic, this wonderful movie is on Netflix. It’s a fun one to put on when you just have downtime and need a relaxing night in. It’s a fun one to watch when you’ve had a long day and need to not think!
11. The First Wives Club
I haven’t watched this, but I hear it’s amazing! Diane Keaton, Bette Midler, and Goldie Hawn are comedy gold in this 1996 film. It’s a film that was relatable to many women of all ages, and spurred a movement across young women in the generations to come. This has been on Netflix for a while, but try watching this if you haven’t seen it!
12. Bad Boys II
The new Will Smith and Martin Lawrence movie just came out in theaters, so why not watch the previous ones before you watch the new one? I haven’t seen it, but it’s funny to watch with your pals and it’s something different than all of these rom-coms.
