17 TV Shows to Binge Watch In One Weekend

I love a good weekend where I can rest and rejuvenate from a long week. I am a true introvert at heart, friends. But whether or not you are an introvert, there are some weekends where you just need to rest and sit in front of the TV. (Aka there’s a huge winter storm.)

These are the shows that I’ve loved and can watch in one day or two (or at least a couple of seasons).

New Girl

A funny sitcom about a group of friends in their late twenties/early thirties, this show is close to my heart. I will ALWAYS put on New Girl and laugh along the corny jokes. Every time I watch it, I always laugh and have a great smile on my face. I put it on when I need a good laugh and when I’m feeling anxious or overwhelmed.

Friends

Um, the ICONIC show that everyone needs to watch, like stat. I get it, some people don’t like Friends and I completely understand. It’s not for everyone … but really, it can be for everyone. I put this on, like New Girl, when I’m feeling anxious or overwhelmed and in need of a good laugh.

Gilmore Girls

We’re really starting this blog post off with some GREAT (and basic) finds. Again, like the two mentioned above, I put Gilmore Girls on when I’m feeling anxious or overwhelmed. It’s such a great comfort show that has family dynamics, reading, small town life, pop culture references, and lots and lots of coffee.

Game of Thrones

A jump into the more twisty and dark shows, but Game of Thrones is a show that can be a great binge watch. I’m not saying that you’ll watch all eight seasons in one weekend, but maybe half a season (or a whole season if you’re really dedicated!). A lot of people are fans of this show, so why not join in on the fandom one weekend and begin your epic journey into the winter is coming memes.

Love Island (UK)

And the UK version only. I recommend starting with season six, and then working your way through seasons 1-5. This was recommended to me by someone else—there’s just something about season six that will hook you into this entire franchise. Watch if you hate-watch The Bachelor shows and you need another dating reality show.

The Bachelor/Bachelorette

I know I just mentioned Love Island, but why not catch up on older seasons of The Bachelor/The Bachelorette? You can watch most seasons of The Bachelorette on Amazon Prime Video, and catch Colton’s, Ben’s, and one more guy I can’t remember his name’s season on Hulu. It can be an entertaining watch for one weekend.

Sex and the City

These are 30 minute episodes, but each episode is pretty entertaining and fun to watch. A lot of the show isn’t corny or cheesy like most sitcoms (Friends, New Girl), and since you may be watching And Just Like That, it could be a fun throwback and revisit all of your favorite characters (Samantha, miss you!).

The Office

cue eye roll … I know, such another basic TV show. But to watch in one sitting, or maybe one season, you can easily put this on in the background while you do laundry, other chores around your house … or scroll on your phone (or work on that side hustle). It’s such a comfort show and when is the last time you watched it?

30 Rock

Okay, maybe you watched The Office a little too much. May I suggest Tina Fey in 30 Rock? A new show to try and could be really great! It’s funny and the cast of characters play a writer’s team working on a TV show. If you like shows that feature TV shows and/or movies, and the behind the scenes of it all, this could be a really great binge watch for you!

Parks and Recreation

I can’t write a blog post with binge-able TV shows and not mention Parks and Recreation. Amy Poehler, like Tina Fey and Steve Carrell, is a comedic genius and this show doesn’t just highlight her, but other comedy stars like Aubrey Plaza, Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, and Aziz Ansari. Watch if you love The Office.

Succession

Again with the dramas! Watch this show if you love family dynamics but with a couple of twisty plot lines thrown in there. I think fans of Dynasty could be really into this show, but also if you really love reading business articles and love the stock market and investments and other stuff like that, you could get into this show one weekend.

Yellowstone

I haven’t watched this, but the only thing that hooks me into this show personally is Kevin Costner. I don’t know why, but something about Kevin Costner is attractive (not just his looks!) and I’ll watch anything that he’s in. Again, like Succession, watch if you love family dynamics, but unlike Succession, this is set on a ranch and Kevin Costner plays a sixth-generation homesteader and ranch owner, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States.

The Circle

I watched season one in one weekend and became literally obsessed. Season two had just come out with only a few episodes, and after season one, I devoured those season two episodes. Currently, there are three seasons and I highly recommend watching all three seasons in one weekend. This competitive game show includes around 10-12 contestants who stay in a house and each contestant has their own apartment. They compete for a grand prize of $100,000 and must make “friends” or alliances using only the persona they have online. Most contestants use their own personas, but some are catfishes, or they are catfishing or playing as someone else (usually a friend, family member, or sometimes, a random person). Players make alliances and must figure out who is being “real” and who is the catfish. It’s a highly entertaining and addicting watch and will have you loving each and every character. (Still rooting for Joey and Shubham!)

Riverdale

I have stuck with Riverdale and sometimes, it can be overwhelming to watch. I recommend starting with season one as a binge-watch, but I must warn you—it can be VERY addicting and a little crazy and it can suck you in. Season one follows the mystery surrounding the murder of Jason Blossom, and four teenagers must fight to solve the truth behind it. The rest of the seasons just spiral into crazy and outlandish plots that seem crazy, but will completely suck you in to watch it. I recommend not watching it right before bedtime.

The Sex Lives of College Girls

This was an entertaining binge-watch for me, as it was at times, relatable. I watched season one in one weekend, more like one day to be exact, as it was only eight episodes. Mindy Kaling created and produced it, so it’s guaranteed to be a funny watch.

The Mindy Project

Fans of The Office and similar shows will absolutely love this iconic show, starring Mindy Kaling and written by her as well. I don’t even need to describe it for you to go watch it right now.

Never Have I Ever

I think at the last minute, I am compiling all of Mindy Kaling shows. Like The Sex Lives of College Girls, but it focuses on Devi and the grief of her late father. While the show includes her processing that grief, it also focuses on her and her friends in high school. Honestly, it’s a must watch.
