3 Tips For New Bloggers On Finding Balance And Growing Their Blog

If you have a blog, this post is for you. I’ve been blogging for about four years and made zero money. If you’re about to click out of this blog post, please don’t click out just yet. I promise, this post does have value.

While an extra income isn’t my main goal with blogging, I’ve racked my brain to figure out how I can make some extra cash on my blog. I’ve tried everything, including trying to make free e-books to get the ball rolling. But I always end up burnt out and wondering if blogging is really right for me.

If you’re in the same boat, I want to tell you … there is hope.

Whether you are a fashion, beauty, lifestyle, faith, parenting, wellness, or career (tips for side hustles and careers) blogger, don’t lose hope. I have a few tips for new bloggers on finding balance and growing your blog. I may not be the most experienced blogger out there, but I have been around for a few years to pick up a few tips for other bloggers and content creators.

Be Patient

You’re not going to be an overnight sensation. You’re not going to gain 1M followers/readers/subscribers overnight. In fact, that shouldn’t be your goal. Your goal should be focused on the content and what you are creating. Stay focused on that goal and work hard to achieve that goal, but be patient. It takes time to grow a business or blog and make money off of it. It’s so easy to give up after a year or two of not seeing any results, but if it was so easy, everyone would be doing it. Stay focused on your goal and be patient.

Quality > Quantity

You may be tempted to keep churning out content for your blog, podcast, newsletter, or YouTube, but that can quickly lead to burnout, which can cause you to not create content at all. Instead, focus on the content that you want to write. Pick a day to write 2-3 short blog posts. Keep a list of blog post ideas in your Notes app. Focus on the content that you love to create.

Blogger tip: know your energy. Are you more inspired to write in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, or late at night? Figure out when you can write the best, and write during those times!

Don’t Write To Go Viral

Don’t write viral posts. I will say to try and keep up with what’s trending and write relevant, engaging blog posts—but don’t expect those posts to go viral. Instead, focus on the audience you do have … even if it’s two people. Write for those two people and work on engaging your audience.

Those are my three tips for new bloggers on finding balance and growing your blog. Are there more tips on how you can actually “grow” your blog/Instagram? Yes. There are technical tips to grow your blog and social media reach. These are three tips that have helped me stop the burnout and continue what I love to do: creating content that engages and inspires others.

I hope you found this blog post helpful! Let me know in the comments.
