How to Make The Most Of The Weekend In Your 20s

Making the most of your weekend in your 20s can be a mix of relaxation, rest, fun, productivity, and self-care. While the weekend seems very short, you can get a lot of stuff done.

Here are some tips to help you make the most of your time off and prepare for the week ahead.

Prioritize rest and relaxation.

First and foremost, you need rest. After a long week of work, make time to prioritize rest. Sleep in—but not too much! Allow yourself to catch up on rest but avoid oversleeping (lol maybe), as it might make you feel groggy. You want to be refreshed for the things you have to do! Also! Unplug and recharge. Take time away from screens and social media. Go for a walk, meditate, or just relax with a book.

Plan fun activities.

What are the things you wanted to do during the week, but were too tired after your 9-5 to do? Here are some ideas.

  • Explore your city! Whether it’s trying a new cafe, visiting a museum, or attending a local event, being a tourist in your own city is a fun way to spend your weekend.

  • Indulge in outdoor adventures. Go hiking, biking, or have a picnic in the park. The fresh air can be invigorating after a long week.

  • Socialize! Make time for friends or family. Plan a brunch, a night out, or even a game night at home.

Focus on self-improvement.

Exercise, learn something new, or try to set goals for the week. Use the weekend to set small, actionable goals for the upcoming week. Start your weekend with a workout! It can boost your mood and energy levels for the rest of the day. Learn something new. Use some of your weekend to pick up a new hobby, learn a new skill, or pursue a personal project.

Practice self-care.

Treat yourself! Whether it’s a skincare routine, a bubble bath, or getting a massage, make time for activities that make you feel good. Cook a good meal. Take the time to cook a nice meal, either solo or with friends. It’s healthier and can be a creative way to unwind.

Be productive—but not overwhelming.

Use the weekend to tackle a personal project. Whether it’s organizing your space, working on a passion project, or getting ahead on work, use part of your weekend for productivity. Any chores? Dedicate some time to knock out any chores or errands, so you can start the week feeling prepared.

Prioritize “me time.”

Find a balance between doing things you enjoy alone and spending quality time with others. This will ensure your weekend is both fulfilling and restful.

Making the most of your weekend in your 20s, especially when you begin your first 9-5 job, is about finding a mix that works best for you. Whether that’s being productive, socializing, relaxing, or pursuing personal interests. It’s your weekend, it’s your time. Do what brings you joy and happiness.
