52 Rom Coms To Watch For The Perfect Cozy Night In This Fall

Picture it: you’re on your own and staying in for the night, and you curl up on the couch looking for something to watch. These movies are the perfect feel-good movies that I turn on when I’m in need of a laugh, a good cry, or both (sometimes all at the same time).

Here are a list of rom coms to start watching for your girls night in movie marathon.

10 Things I Hate About You

This Taming of the Shrew retelling starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles is a classic and therefore must be watched on a rom com movie marathon. Heath Ledger singing Frank Sinatra is a rom-com legend, and of course, we were introduced to Gabrielle Union and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This rom-com that’s enemies-to-lovers and fake dating is absolutely amazing.

13 Going On 30

Okay, Jennifer Gardner is a rom-com legend in this, but why isn’t anyone else talking about Mark Ruffalo in a rom-com? Mark Ruffalo is an underrated rom-com king, carrying Razzles around and secretly crushing on his best friend. Check out this friends-to-lovers rom-com with a little bit of time travel thrown in there.

17 Again

One of the movies post-HSM for our Disney king Zac Efron and it was a great one. (I think it was in between HSM 2 + 3.) Honestly, everyone talks about how this is a great movie for Zac but what about Matthew Perry, aka Chandler Bing?? He had a small part (played the older Zac Efron) but he played a very important role.

27 Dresses

This took me A WHILE to watch, but I absolutely love this movie. I know and love Katherine Heigl from her Grey’s Anatomy days, but her singing Elton John on a bar top with James Marsden is iconic. That, and with the absolute incredible fashion show of bridesmaid dresses they put on, how could you not have this on your fall rom-com list?

About Time

I have not watched this, but it’s yet another movie starring Rachel McAdams about time. Can it be that different from The Vow or The Time Traveler’s Wife? Or Doctor Strange? Honestly, I think she is fantastic in these movies. This is a great rom-com to put on for a cozy night in.

Along Came Polly

Jennifer Aniston is one of those actresses where I can watch ANY of her movies. Not only is she a fantastic comedic actress as Rachel Green in Friends, but she wowed us all with her recent character in The Morning Show. I love the rom-coms that she stars in, especially the comedies (more comedy than romantic) with Adam Sandler. However, this movie with Ben Stiller is a great one. She plays a free-spirited woman named Polly who is the love interest to Ben Stiller’s character, a risk-averse man who just got jilted on his honeymoon.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

Are we sure the book Pride & Prejudice wasn’t based on Bridget Jones? Just kidding. I love to put on Bridget Jones’s Diary any chance I get; that opening scene with Renee Zelwegger is perfection. This is one of my Valentine’s Day go-to movies, but I like to turn it on in the fall too.

Can You Keep A Secret?

I have not seen this movie, but it is a workplace romance. The girl from Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief is in it, so it’s a good Netflix rom-com from 2019.

Clueless

Admit it — Paul Rudd is a rom-com legend. Like Jennifer Aniston, he’s incredible in just about anything. In this film, in slapstick comedies (who can forget Forgetting Sarah Marshall?!) This movie about Alicia Silverstone who plays Cher is not just a simple rom-com. It’s a coming of age film where she learns important life lessons that hard work is important and you can’t get everything handed to you. But also, it’s about how she falls in love with her stepbrother, who is played by the iconic Paul Rudd.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I absolutely loved this movie as a kid. I still have it on DVD! Isla Fisher plays a shopaholic in New York City with a mountain of credit card debt and a debt collector chasing after her. She gets a job working for a financial magazine, with Hugh Darcy as her boss. Naturally, she starts to fall for her grumpy boss who thinks shopping and fashion are a waste of money, but keeps her debt a secret. As rom-coms progress naturally, her secret starts to grow too big to be kept a secret. I loved the ending and I love any book/movie that includes a magazine or publishing house. Check out this grumpy/sunshine romance.

Crazy Rich Asians

I loved this movie and its book series. We’re introduced to the Asian Bachelor, aka Henry Golding?! (Love Awkafina’s feature in this movie.) This is a beautiful love story set in Singapore starring Constance Wu, who is absolutely a delight in this film. I mean, Henry Golding is also very handsome and charming, too.

Crazy, Stupid, Love

This was a favorite rom-com of mine, so this is an instant re-watch whenever it’s on. I could not believe that Steve Carrell could be in a rom-com, but alas, here we are. We also have Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone pre-La La Land, so that’s amazing. (Supposedly they hated each other?? I refuse to believe it.) This one was an incredible rom-com that brought a lot of laughs. A little bit of cringe with the babysitter crushing on a man twice her age and the last part at the end, but besides that, a great re-watch.

Date Night

I have only seen this Steve Carrell rom-com once, so I think it’s safe to say that Steve Carrell is not a rom-com legend in this book. I feel like he entered the rom-com world a little too late. Tina Fey is also really good in this movie and a good female lead. I think they make a good partnership, but I don’t think they’re the strongest rom-com couple.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

The underrated rom-com of the century. Jason Segel is a surprising good male lead in a rom-com and we get both Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell … interested in Jason Segel? Iconic. We also get the rom-com legend, Paul Rudd.

Friends with Benefits

I actually haven’t watched this adorable rom-com with Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake. I thought it to be very similar to the Ashton Kutcher movie with Natalie Portman (No Strings Attached), so I haven’t watched it, but I think it’s a great movie to spend a night in.

Get Smart

Anne Hathaway and Steve Carrell in a spy rom-com? Sounds a little awkward but it seems like a cute rom-com.

He’s Just Not That Into You

I recently watched this rom-com with this incredible cast. If you’re looking for a nostalgic early 2000s rom-com starring some of the biggest actors in Hollywood (Scarlett Johannsen, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, just to name a few), then this is the movie for you.

Hitch

Honestly, I would never have put Will Smith and Kevin James in the same rom-com together, but alas, here we are. Also, we have Eva Longoria in this movie too. This is such an underrated rom-com to watch on a cozy night in.

How To Be Single

Alexa, play Welcome to New York (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift. Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson play new friends in this NYC rom-com. Dakota Johnson’s character plays a girl who just moved to New York City post-grad, newly single, and ready to experience the single life … but not knowing how to since she’s been in a relationship all throughout college. She discovers the wild and sometimes lonely single life.

How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days

This is a classic romantic comedy starring THE Kate Hudson and Matthew McConnaghey. You cannot go wrong with this on your rom-com movie marathon list. Admit it—you want Kate Hudson’s yellow dress.

Isn’t It Romantic?

I love this rom-com starring Rebel Wilson and Adam Devine … and Liam Hemsworth. It’s a great body positivity rom-com featuring a plus-size character … as the main character and not as the quirky side character friend.

It’s Complicated

Check out this 2009 rom-com with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin playing two exes who reignite a spark. Oh, and it also has Steve Martin and John Krasinski.

John Tucker Must Die

Honestly, if this isn’t on your early 2000s rom-com list, then what is up? This classic rom-com that stars Brittany Snow grouping together with a bunch of girls including Sophia Bush and Ashanti to enact revenge on the same guy they all dated … it’s incredible. It also features Penn Badgley, aka Dan Humphrey aka Lonely Boy from Gossip Girl.

Just Go With It

I love Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston star together in this cute fake dating, friends-to-lovers rom-com. It also has the girl from Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Would I consider this a summer rom-com? Yes. But that’s not to say I wouldn’t watch this in the fall.

Just My Luck

Check out this Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine rom-com where they switch “lucks.” Yeah, it’s just that crazy.

Leap Year

Amy Adams wows everyone in this Ireland rom-com where her character races to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day.

Love Actually

Who says that you have to watch this movie only at Christmastime? This movie with such an incredible cast (including Hugh Grant) is a perfect addition to your fall rom-com list.

Mamma Mia

If you don’t have this musical starring THE Meryl Streep on your rom-com list, then do it now. Yeah, this may be considered a summer rom-com, but this is an emergency case where you NEED to add this to your fall rom-com list.

Monster-in-Law

I mean, this has Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez … and that other guy. Definitely add this comedy to your fall rom-com list.

My Best Friend’s Wedding

Julia Roberts is one of those iconic rom-com legends. If you don’t have this delightful rom-com starring Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, and Cameron Diaz (as a young twenty-something??) on your fall rom-com list, then please, go add it to your list.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

We all love this Greek family. 30-something-year-old Toula is still living with her parents and has no romantic life. That is, until she breaks free from under her parents watch and gets a job at a travel agency instead of working at her family’s restaurant. She then undergoes a makeover, and meets the love of her life (who is Aiden from Sex and the City).

Never Been Kissed

Despite a few minor flaws (like where the twenty-something English teacher falls for his student — she is a 23-year-old undercover journalist, but still), this rom-com is a classic. Drew Barrymore is phenomenal in this as the undercover journalist. It teaches that high school is just that … high school.

Notting Hill

I’m going to admit something … this rom-com wasn’t my favorite. It just didn’t stick out to me. But a lot of people love this rom-com with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant in it. Hugh Grant works — no, owns a travel bookstore (on Notting Hill), where superstar Julia Roberts (who plays Anna Scott) stumbles into and meets Hugh Grant’s character, William Thacker.

Sex and the City

It was while I was typing away on my computer when I wondered … that why you don’t have Sex and the City on your fall rom-com list. Carrie Bradshaw is BACK, with the rest of the gang (Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha) and better than ever. Mr. Big is back, and this time, Carrie and Big are GETTING MARRIED. Or are they?

She’s All That

Check out this underrated rom-com classic where the prom king gives a nerdy girl a makeover and turns her into the ultimate prom queen.

She’s The Man

Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum are incredible in this rom-com. Duke likes Olivia who likes Sebastian who’s really Viola who likes Duke … ahhh it’s insane. This soccer rom-com set in a high school is perfect for fans of Ted Lasso.

The Break-Up

Jennifer Aniston is another rom-com legend … and honestly? Vince Vaughn does an incredible job as a male lead in this rom-com where both of their characters play two people who just broke up but are still living together.

The DUFF

Mae Whitman (Bianca) and Robbie Amell (Wesley) play two childhood friends. Bianca learns that she is known as the “DUFF” or the “Designated Ugly Fat Friend” — or someone who is less popular than everyone else. Enjoy this childhood friends to lovers film where Bianca and Wesley devise a plan to help one another out: Bianca helps Wesley pass his class and Wesley helps Bianca become more popular.

The Holiday

The ultimate rom-com. Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Jack Black. Yeah, you may be wondering that this is a Christmas rom-com where Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet’s characters switch houses and fall in love with two men … at Christmastime, but I’m here to tell you that you can watch this delightful and charming rom-com anytime of the year.

The Kissing Booth

This teen rom-com starring Joey King and Jacob Elordi (of Euphoria fame) is an enemies-to-lovers and forbidden romance filled with lots of banter and even a friendship sub-plot. For those who like the best friend’s brother trope, this one is for you.

The Other Woman

Okay, maybe this isn’t the most traditional rom-com where the guy and girl fall in love. But yes, it does have that. But Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton (yes, that Kate Upton) play three women who find out they all have been seeing the same guy — one of them (Leslie Mann’s character) even married to him. Chaos ensue and of course, since it’s a rom-com, love is a result.

The Proposal

This Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds rom-com is a comedy classic that everyone must watch. If fake dating/engagement is your favorite trope, then this is the rom-com for you. Plus, it has Betty White.

The Wedding Planner

Jennifer Lopez is a wedding planner and falls for the groom. Check out this early 2000s rom-com to add to your fall rom-com movie list.

The Wedding Singer

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in a rom-com truly is classic. Adam Sandler plays a wedding singer, Robbie, who is engaged, who meets a waitress named Julia who is also engaged. When Robbie is left at the altar, he’s devastated. He runs into Julia, who is engaged and now wedding planning, and asks Robbie to help plan her wedding. This sounds like a cute rom-com to add to your fall rom-com movie list.

There’s Something About Mary

Cameron Diaz is yet another rom-com legend. I only watched this once, but I know it’s a great rom-com to add to your fall rom-com list.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Check out this teen rom-com starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, playing Lara Jean Covey (Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Centineo). If you like the fake dating trope, this is the movie for you. (And don’t forget to check out the second and third movies in this series on Netflix.)

Valentine’s Day

Listen, this may be cheesy for other people, but this movie is good, y’all. It even has the queen herself, aka Taylor Swift. I loved this movie that featured a bunch of different characters but they all had some sort of connection to each other. I loved this one in addition to its counterpart, New Year’s Eve, just because it had those several plot points.

What Happens In Vegas

Yet another rom-com with Cameron Diaz, this movie is a definite add to your rom-com list, especially in the fall. This one features Ashton Kutcher, who is incredibly funny. Watch these two accidentally get married in Vegas and then continue to stay married to collect the millions of dollars they won in addition to getting married.

What A Girl Wants

Amanda Bynes is a great rom-com lead! This was one of the movies that propelled her into fame. And it features Colin Firth? Absolutely incredible.

When Harry Met Sally

If you don’t have a Nora Ephron movie on your fall rom-com list, you need to reevaluate. Meg Ryan does no wrong with a good fall romantic comedy. She just … gets it. Old college friends who met on their 18-hour drive from college to New York, the movie takes us through that one time throughout 12 years of friendship. This movie isn’t my favorite Nora Ephron movie, but it definitely gives good, cozy fall vibes.

Wild Child

This movie with Emma Roberts is great vibes all around. Emma Roberts plays a spoiled wild child who gets sent to boarding school in England where she struggles to fit in.

You’ve Got Mail

Did I save the best fall rom-com (and best overall) movie for last? Yes, I did. This one is my absolute favorite movie of all time. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks together is a masterpiece, and I think I’m channeling Meg Ryan for my #cozygirlfall. This enemies-to-lovers with the backdrop/setting as a bookstore will be your favorite fall rom-com of the fall.
