TV Shows to Watch This Week: 10/10.

Lately, it’s been a struggle to find something to watch on TV. I canceled my cable TV a while ago but then made the switch to YouTube TV to catch my Bachelor nights and Grey’s Anatomy (and Dancing with the Stars, obviously). But other than that, it’s been hard to find something else to get sucked into each week. And don’t even get me started on the daily Netflix swipe throughs that happen repeatedly.

I’m trying to branch out and watch more shows, aka new shows instead of the same shows that I always end up watching: Gilmore Girls, New Girl, Younger, and most recently, Scandal. Those shows are still great to turn on from time to time, like when I’m cooking dinner, but lately I just need a show to sink my teeth into and have that excitement to look forward to for next week’s episode.

So, here are a few shows to watch this week. Hope you get to watch some of these! Let me know what you think; I’d love to discuss some of these.

Only murders in the building

This is a show that got me out of a, what I like to call, watching TV slump. (Is that a thing?) This is like a true crime documentary meets sitcom—only, it’s purely fictional and not a documentary. However, there is a murder mystery to be solved! Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are the stellar cast chosen for this production, and I couldn’t be as sucked in as I already am. The season finale premieres on Hulu in a week, and I already am so caught up. (Part of the reason why I need to add more shows to my lineup.) The show follows all three of these characters who are all residents of the apartment building, The Arconia. One night, a resident named Tim Kono is murdered and it’s ruled a suicide. However, these three residents (all true crime podcast junkies who listen to the same podcast) have a hunch that it wasn’t a suicide and indeed a murder. They set out to solve the murder of Tim Kono, and along the way, create a podcast to document it.

Highly addicting and short episodes! Tune in on Hulu.

Sex education

Season three came out in September (!!!) and it’s a must-watch. I’m about three episodes in (I think) and already loving it. Truth be told, I’m not a big fan of Adam but only because he was a bully originally and I don’t like his relationship with Eric. I just need Otis and Maeve to get together, so I hope that we finally see that in season three.

It follows a group of high school students (set in England), and specifically one high school student in particular, Otis. As he’s not experienced in the lovemaking department, his mom sure is (she’s a sex therapist). However, he does know a lot about the subject. After learning upon his knowledge, his classmates recruit him for love and sex advice. Bad girl Maeve teams up with him to be the smart business savvy girl that she is and the two run a sex therapy clinic. Season two was just as dramatic as the first, so I’m excited to dive into the third season. We’ll see how it turns out!!

Tune in on Netflix.

Dancing with the stars

I’ve been a fan of this show since the very beginning, with a few breaks here and there. This season, on its thirtieth season, has an ALL-STAR cast (not to be confused with the season 15 all-star season where previous contestants competed). They have a Bachelor star (Matt James), country music artist Jimmie Allen, basketball player Iman Shubhert, Olympian Suni Lee, The Bold Type and The Office’s Melora Hardin (aka Jan Levinson or Jacqueline Carlyle). This week, it’s Disney week! However, there are two nights (!!!) of Disney, Monday night being for the Disney heroes, and Tuesday night being for the Disney villains.

Super excited for this week’s DWTS! (Feel free to go ahead and follow me on Twitter for some live tweeting.)

Also, for the super cool fans that already watch this show, Cheryl and Cody are back in the ballroom after testing negative. Yay!!!

Shrill

I have not watched this show, but I absolutely adore Aidy Bryant on SNL and in I Feel Pretty with Amy Schumer. The show, off of first glance, is about a struggling young journalist (Aidy Bryant) who is determined to change her life without changing her body. And right off the bat, I’m hooked. I love a good body positivity/representation moment, and I’m looking forward to diving into this show this week!

Tune in on Hulu to watch this delightful show.

Grey’s anatomy

A new episode of Grey’s Anatomy airs this Thursday! Honestly, here is one of the shows that made me purchase YouTube TV. I will continue to watch this even when it goes off the air, that’s just how good it is. It’s season 18, and only three of season one veterans are still with us: Meredith (obviously), Richard Webber, and Miranda Bailey. SPOILER: oh—and we can’t forget Dr. Addison Montgomery returning in season 18, but technically, she came in at the end of season one and had that ICONIC first line. I’ll let you remember that. (Apparently, she brings it back in her return this season.)

I can’t wait to watch this! Tune in on ABC (cable, Hulu Live, YouTube TV) on 8/7 central OR catch it the next day on Hulu.

Loki, the falcon & the winter soldier, + black widow

What a three-in-one! It is Marvel, of course. Marvel had some fantastic releases this past year—especially after Endgame. I finished WandaVision, but have yet to catch up on Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I did see Black Widow in theaters, but they just released it on Disney Plus. Why not spend your three-day weekend with a Marvel marathon, catching up on some of the new shows?

Tune in on Disney Plus for all of these good shows.

Harry potter marathon

The Harry Potter movies just came on HBO Max, so why not have a Harry Potter movie marathon for the month of October? Watch one movie per weekend or if you want a true challenge, cram all of the movies into one day. Go ahead, I dare you.

Tune in on HBO Max and let me know if you have a marathon.
