At-Home Solo Date Night Ideas To Try This Fall

Hey, friends.

I feel like everyone is getting into a relationship and dating around—and yet, it’s still a pandemic. My question to them: how? How are you getting the energy to get dressed up, put makeup on, and go to your couch for a FaceTime date? If that makes you happy, then so be it. But if you live alone like me, or even live with roommates, here are some at-home date night ideas that you can do alone.

Order takeout and host a movie marathon.

Download your delivery apps and find a restaurant you haven’t tried yet, and order something new. Then, head to your streaming service of your choice and pick a collection of movies and host a movie marathon. For example, start a Marvel movie marathon—they’re all on Disney+ and ready to watch in order. It’s a fun night (or three month journey if you choose Marvel) for a movie marathon!

Host a dance party.

Okay, this might seem weird at first, but trust me, it works. Crank on some tunes, pour yourself a glass of wine, and turn on your favorite playlist. For me, this works best for me when I’m cooking in the kitchen! I turn on my yeehaw playlist (don’t judge me lol) and dance while I’m cooking.

Try a new recipe and cook!

Check out the MANY recipes on Pinterest—I mean countless recipes. Most recently, I became a crock pot gal myself, and just made a slow cooker taco soup. It was so much fun!

And if finding recipes via Pinterest isn’t your thing, try a meal kit delivery service like Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, Home Chef, or many others. Personally, I’ve tried the three listed. Blue Apron, as seen in the photo, is a great one! It beats your recipe fatigue and the meals are actually tasty and what you see in a restaurant.

Not only does cooking broaden your taste buds, but you gain valuable life skills in the kitchen.

Break out a puzzle.

This may sound nerdy, but pull out a puzzle! It’s super fun and low key, and you can do it while you have your movie marathon or binge-watching Gilmore Girls for the thousandth time.

Paint by number.

This is a new thing that I saw some of my friends in relationships try, but why not try Paint by Number as a single 20-something?! Painting can be sooo much fun, and I for one cannot wait to add this Paint by Number to my Amazon cart. It may be a Disney kids painting, but aren’t we all children at heart?

Go on a long walk and listen to a podcast.

Okay, this might not technically be an “at home” date idea, but you’re not going anywhere and more importantly, not spending any money. Put on your tennis shoes and go on a long walk! And listen to a podcast, some music (my yeehaw music is very popular amongst myself.) It can be very therapeutic, as well as skillful as you’re listening to something meaningful.

Try some of these and hope you enjoy your at-home date night! Whether you are single as a pringle, dating, or in a long-term relationship, try some of these date night ideas!
