31 Things That Every Girl Needs To Hear

I’m just exhausted. (Emotionally exhausted, although I could use a few extra hours of sleep.) I’m tired of growing anxious over the small things. I’m tired of comparing myself to other people, thinking I’m not good enough for this and that. I’m just tired, and I think some other girls are tired too. I’m spiritually and emotionally exhausted. I’m exhausted trying to prove myself in order to fit a certain mold in today’s society. I’m tired of crying over some boy who won’t like me back, or the fact that I have never had a boyfriend and wonder if I’ll be forever alone. I’m tired of trying to battle the lies in my head telling me that I’m not good enough. But here’s the thing: we serve a good God who has already fought that battle and WON. We serve a good God who crushes those lies in our head. (I need to be reminded of this sometimes.) I remember my Savior already won that battle on the cross. He crushed the enemy’s head, when in Genesis 3, the enemy only bit at my heel.

So, I’m exhausted. But my God plants these reminders in my head. I try to keep these 31 reminders tucked away somewhere where I can remember them: my journal. I encourage every girl reading this to do the same, too.

  1. You are a daughter of God.

  2. You are loved by many.

  3. Your worth isn’t measured in the number on the scale.

  4. You’re meant for something GREAT, even if it hasn’t happened to you yet.

  5. You are enough for your Father in heaven, which makes you enough for this world.

  6. God made you in His image. (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:14)

  7. God created you for a PURPOSE. You’re worth everything that God created you for.

  8. God desires an intimate and loving relationship with you.

  9. You are beautiful not because some guy told you so, but because the Creator of heaven and earth, the sun and stars and moon, and all the animals, made you. “And God saw that it was good.”

  10. Stop comparing your timeline to others.

  11. Your to-do list doesn’t matter. Your heart does.

  12. You don’t have to be afraid anymore because you’re set free in Christ Jesus.

  13. Just because your sorority sister got married, doesn’t mean you won’t ever get married.

  14. Just because you messed up, God doesn’t turn away from you.

  15. You serve a gracious and loving God. Nothing and no one else.

  16. Stop exercising to lose weight.

  17. Stop counting calories. (And stop eating salads three times a day)

  18. It’s okay to grow. (Emotionally, spiritually, physically)

  19. Prayer is a powerful tool sitting in your toolbox. Use it.

  20. Love God and love others. (Matthew 22:37-40, Mark 12:28-34, Luke 10:27a)

  21. The hustle culture is unhealthy; you do not have to be productive every minute of every day.

  22. Everyone is on their own path. Stop trying to re-route your GPS.

  23. Take a break when you need it.

  24. Be kind to others.

  25. Stop comparing your seed to someone else’s tree.

  26. There’s beauty in the ashes.

  27. For every mountain top, comes a valley.

  28. Don’t skip over chapters; trust the Author.

  29. You are enough. (It’s just worth repeating because it’s true!!)

  30. Patience is a virtue AND a discipline.

  31. God loves you SO MUCH that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for your sins. (John 3:16, Romans 5:8)
