Romance Books That I Don’t Hear Talked About Enough On Social Media
I get my book recommendations from bookstagram and Booktok. Sometimes, book blog posts and articles! However, I feel like I see the same books being mentioned. I dived into the world of Goodreads and found books that I don’t typically see circulating around the book social media spaces. Hope you find some good ones!
The Only Purple House In Town by Ann Aguirre
This sounds like a great romance to read in the fall! With supernatural elements with romance sprinkled in there, especially a childhood crush who returns to town and takes over her great aunt’s house. But her great aunt’s house already has residents (or guests) that aren’t human. It’s the fourth book in a series, but I think you can read it as a stand alone novel.

The Prince & The Apocalypse by Kara McDowell
This sounds like The Lizzie McGuire Movie in book form, right? A high school senior travels overseas on a school trip, and while there, meets a famous teenage boy—this time, it’s Prince Theo who looks to get away from his controlling mother. Wren, the American teen, helps him with it. But then the apocalypse is coming—a comet is coming to Earth within days and life will cease to exist. Do they try to save the world? No. Wren and Theo just try to make plans to stay safe. Sounds entertaining, right?

Unlucky Like Us by Krista and Becca Ritchie
Technically, this book is book 12 of a series (12 books in a series??), but I think one can read it as a stand alone. This comes in the Billionaires and Bodyguards series, and from what I can tell from the description, it comes from the series with Loren Hale, which I have actually heard a lot of talk about on bookstagram. The MMC in this one is Paul Donnelly, a bodyguard for Beckett Cobalt. Paul has fallen for his nemesis’s sister, Luna Hale, but he must prove that it’s safe to fall for her. To do that, he must start taking care of his family, the family he left so many years ago. This romance sounds interesting enough and honestly, a new series to dive into!

Role Playing by Cathy Yardley
The cover immediately drew me into this one. This features older characters—the FMC is 48 years old and the MMC is 50 years old. They meet each other on an online gaming guild. Both assume the other is younger and start a friendship. But when they meet face to face, they are shocked. However, they grow closer. But will their past relationships that left Maggie bitter and Aiden a complicated past hold them back?

The Wife App by Carolyn Mackler
What if a group of three wives created a “wife app” that monetized all the things that a wife does for free? These three women, Lauren, Madeline, and Sophie, do just that. They create this app, stick it to their exes, and have a wild ride in the process. This sounds like the entertaining book that I need this fall.

Love in Winter Wonderland by Abiola Bello
This doesn’t come out until October 2023, but when I read that this is a YA Christmas love story similar to the plot of You’ve Got Mail, I just knew I needed this book. Popular and charismatic Trey is working at his family’s bookstore, Wonderland, in London. Quirky, creative Ariel needs tuition for the prestigious art program of her dreams, so she begins working at Wonderland. With the threat of Wonderland being shut down due to gentrification, they plot to save the bookstore. This sounds like a fantastic and heartwarming book to read right before the holidays!
