Lighthearted Romance Novels to Read When You Need To Unwind

When I’m stressed, I love picking up an easy, light-hearted romance read. Honestly, I don’t easily pick up a dense, heavy book (unless it’s a Sarah J. Maas book, and in that case, of course). I think I’m honestly anxious most of the time, so it’s easier to pick up a romance novel.

But anyway, Valentine’s Day came and passed, and we saw an influx of romance reads everywhere, so I wanted to post a few of my favorite light-hearted romance reads. These are books that I have loved with my whole heart and brought a smile to my face all throughout reading.

Meg & Jo by Virginia Kantra

For anyone looking for a fun, light-hearted book! This is a contemporary retelling of Little Women, told from the perspective of Meg and Jo. (See the sequel told from the perspectives of Beth and Amy, another one of my favorite books.)

The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams

Honestly, you can read this entire book in an entire weekend—it’s a great series that you find yourself rooting for each and every character. Love that it’s set in Nashville, too! I just finished book three and excited to start the fourth book!

While We Were Dating by Jasmine Guillory

I love ANY Jasmine Guillory book, but if I had to choose a light-hearted romance read, then While We Were Dating takes the cake. This is that type of romance where a celebrity

The Unhoneymooners By Christina Lauren

Speaking of cake, The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren is a wedding-themed novel that takes the cake. The main characters, Olive and Ethan, are the maid of honor and best man (respectively) and the only ones who didn’t get sick at the wedding reception. The bride, Olive’s sister, offers the non-refundable honeymoon to Olive, the unlucky sister, but there’s a catch: Ethan is invited too. Honestly, this is such a fun book to read on a weekend after a long week.

Tweet Cute by Emma Lord

I loooooooooved this one. I read this book at the start of the pandemic and it was perfect for those weird times. This will have you cackling and rooting for both of the main characters. Not only that, but the baking recipes sure do make you hungry!

I read the first of the Brown sister trilogy and it was so delightful! I loved Chloe Brown and am excited to pick back up the second book.

The Duke & I by Julia Quinn

I love this series—I am on book five (Eloise’s story) and while it’s starting out slow, I love Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series. The Duke & I probably is my favorite out of the series—but honestly, that changes pretty much every day. I am VERY excited for season two on Netflix.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Both the book series and movie series are so cute. I watch this series every time I’m feeling overwhelmed. The love story between Peter K and Lara Jean is so cute, and will bring a smile to your face.
