September Recap

September was a whoozy, friends. The first half of the month was decent, nothing new. My goal for this month was to take more photos, for the sake of these new Recap posts, but also to just have more photo memories. I never take any photos because I had thought to live in the moment, but I want something to remember my days by.

So, September started out decent and towards the end of the month (specifically the last week), anxiety started to creep in. But I’m excited for October which means #cozygirlfall, all the new books to read (I just joined the library!), and my birthday month! I think I know what I want to do for my birthday, which is rare because my idea of a birthday celebration is sit on the couch and watch old movies until I go to bed at a reasonable time.

Anyway, let’s dive into this Recap!

What I’ve Been Reading:

August was a big reading month (I hit my August reading goal!), but I didn’t set a goal for September. That being said, I still read a lot more than previous months! I think I just took what I learned from August and that was to focus on reading books I wanted to read and watched less TV. (See next point to see what I watched!)

You can find what I read in September in a separate post, but here’s the rundown:

To be honest, I started two of these books a while ago but finished them this month. These still count in my head for September reading, so therefore these are going on the September list. I am currently listening to A Lot Like Adios by Alexis Daria, the sequel to You Had Me at Hola. It’s good so far! I don’t listen to audiobooks often which explains why it’s taking me this so long—although, it’s such a fast read so I highly recommend it! Book review coming soon. I also started going back to the library to check out FREE books. I already have a couple of books on deck just ready to be opened and loved. Here’s my October TBR:

I’m so excited to start using the library again!

On Blogging + #Bookstagram:

So, I’m not one to complain about money issues because I am very thankful for what I have, but I did struggle a bit financially this month. I just moved, so that includes a lot of expenses and I am in need of new furniture pieces. I know that I will be okay, but money problems are still stressful.

On that note, one of my side hustles is blogging! This blog is more of a passion project, but in the months to come, my goal is to make extra cash off this blog. If you see a link, it’s most likely an affiliate link and if you click on it and make the purchase through my link, I will most likely earn a commission—at no cost to you. Blogging is something that has brought me genuine joy over the years and I wish to continue it further and even make some extra cash.

What I’m Watching:

Only Murders in the Building

On Hulu, this show is absolutely amazing. Not only with the stellar cast, the show follows a true crime podcast investigating a murder that happened in the building. I’m watching an episode as I type this post and it’s so good!

The Morning Show

On Apple TV+, I just can’t get enough of this show!! Season two just released and we’re already on episode three. (Episode three released this past Friday, September 30.) I need all of the episodes to come out at the same time because I need to know! This season focuses on the year 2020, and it’s specifically on news networks covering COVID, the election, etc. It’s very fascinating to get the behind the scenes look into how the news covered 2020.

Bachelor in paradise

The new season, obviously. Is it safe to say that I don’t really like this season? I find it … boring even though the producers used every trick in the book to get viewers: including bringing back Kendall to stir up conflict between Serena and Joe. (But S + J made it work!) Frankly, I’m just tired of this show but you still will find me on Monday or Tuesday nights (whenever they’re on live) sipping my glass of wine and live tweeting. Sorry, not sorry.

Other shows that I’m watching are Gilmore Girls and the new season of Grey’s Anatomy!! The new season of Grey’s premiered at the end of September, so don’t miss next month’s recap to hear ALL the details on what I think.

What I’m Listening To:

I Love You So Much Podcast //

Specifically, the episode with the hosts of Gals on the Go podcast! I love all of these people, including Kenzie (host of ILYSM Podcast) and Brooke and Danielle, hosts of Gals on the Go. They talked about making new friends, living alone, comparison, finding motivation after a rut, and how to gain confidence. Go give this a listen because it’s a must!

Bad on Paper Podcast //

I try to listen to this podcast every week, because it’s oh so good. The two hosts, Grace Atwood and Becca Freeman, are two women in their 30s who talk all things about careers, dating, fashion, and of course books. Two episodes I LOVED this month are: their Quarterly Q+A and the episode with Anne Helen Petersen on the ins and outs of burnout (Anne was the Buzzfeed reporter that wrote an article in Buzzfeed on why millennials are the burnout generation). Definitely listen!

The Popcast //

I love this podcast because not only do the hosts talk about pop culture, they talk about everything from a Christian worldview. While every episode isn’t faith-centered (it’s obviously more pop culture), it’s the perfect podcast for Christians who also love The Bachelor. I want to spotlight one episode about Fictional Jobs where they talk about what make-believe jobs they want, discuss the occupations that are overplayed, and wonder why there aren’t more podcasters in pop culture. (LOL, I definitely thought about starting a podcast in pop culture.)
